A big story about a little family.

Joe and Caitlin Magnuson have a sweet little family and live right down the road from their sweet little coffee shop; but it hasn't always been this way. In fact, they moved here in the summer of 2022. That doesn’t mean that Water Valley is a new experience or place for them, though. It just so happens that Caitlin’s family is from Water Valley and chances are you know them! But Joe is originally from Washington state, so make sure to add him to your prayer list - this Mississippi humidity is getting to him.

They believe that moving here from Washington was mutually beneficial, as they learned a thing or two about coffee.

Most of the time we feel like we are living a fairytale. God has blessed our family time and time again, and we are excited for the opportunity to do the same for the community of Water Valley. We would love to get to know you and how we can help serve our new neighborhood!

Come sit a spell with your favorite beverage and let’s learn a thing or two about each other.

The Magnolia Coffee Co. caught our attention driving through town. We decided to drop by and purchase a cup before heading home. We had no idea we would spend almost an hour there learning the story behind the new business endeavor for Caitlin and Joe Magnuson.

Caitlin is originally from the Water Valley area. She moved to Washington to attend an art school. There she met Joe, they married, and they had two children. Last year, they decided to move back to Mississippi.

Through a series of events, they purchased the downtown location. Starting from a blank canvas, Joe, with his construction skills, and Caitlin, with her artistic ability, have turned the building into a coffee house and event space.

In March 2022, Joe and Caitlin Magnuson visited Water Valley and knew they wanted to open a coffee shop there. By July, they moved their family to town, and purchased a trailer with the intention of opening a mobile coffee shop. But in August, during a family stroll down Main Street, they saw a for lease sign on an empty historic building with a courtyard entrance and immediately envisioned a space they could make home. The mobile coffee shop idea was tossed, and The Magnolia Coffee Co. was born. By August 17th, Joe & Caitlin were giving out free drip coffee in their courtyard for Main Street’s Art Crawl. They did their own renovations for two months to transform the empty space and courtyard, and finally were ready for a soft opening on October 27th during the Main Street Association’s Water Valley Wine Down and shared samplings of their menu. A week later, they held their Grand Opening and haven’t slowed down since.

We were featured in Mississippi Magazine’s July 2023 Edition for 5 Great Family Fun Field Trips!

We are so lucky to have this business on Main Street! Truly a Water Valley treasure. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. The drinks and bites are yummy and locally sourced when possible. Special shoutout to the amazing courtyard space with comfy furniture and cozy fire pits. It's picture perfect. Great space to work or catch up with friends.
